Tributes pour in following death of respected priest from Longford who was 'full of kindness'

Fr. William J. (Billy) Farrell passed away on Monday

Tributes have poured in following the passing of Fr. William J. (Billy) Farrell, late of Glasthule, Dublin and late of Edgeworthstown, Co Longford,

Beloved son of the late Kathleen and Miko, Fr. Billy passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, 

Sadly missed by his much loved sisters Mary and Thérèse, brother James, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, his colleagues within the Archdiocese of Dublin and nationwide, both past and present including his nephew Fr. Mark O’Farrell, his extended family and close friends, especially Bríd.

Remembering also his late brothers Michéal and Adrian and brother-in-law William.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and remembered Fr. Billy, with one mourner writing,

"To all the Farrell family. Our deepest condolences. Billy was like a family member in our lives all down through the years. Billy….Full of kindness…generosity and quick wit. Take your well deserved REST. Thank you for your life-long friendship."

Another wrote, 

"Sorry to hear of Fr. Billy’s passing. A really kind man and a great priest. May Fr. Billy rest in peace."

While another wrote,

"I’ve known Billy since growing up in Edgeworthstown and always enjoyed his great sense of humour. Visits to Billy were never dull, I will miss him greatly."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing Thursday, May 30th, in Quinn’s of Glasthule from 4pm to 5.30pm with removal to St. Joseph’s Church, Glasthule arriving for 6pm.

Requiem Mass Friday, May 31, at 12 noon which can be viewed on www.churchservices.tv/glasthule followed by cremation in Mount Jerome Crematorium.

No flowers please. Donations, if desired, to a charity of your choice.
