This weekend sees the long awaited return of one of the county’s most popular spectacles- Longford Vintage Show and annual fun day.
In what will be the organisation’s 16th annual outing, Connolly Barracks will be the venue for an exciting occasion that promises to cater for all ages and tastes.
The show will kick off from 12 noon on Sunday, and will feature a vintage club classic display of old-style vehicles, motorbikes and much more for visitors to see.
For the children in attendance, a wide range of entertainment options will be on offer, including face painting, a variety of games, and a highly-anticipated high-tech "Robot Realm". And what’s more, all of it is for free.
The children's entertainment will once again be spearheaded by Corvenieos Entertainment, a locally-based firm that boasts over 300 years of experience behind them.
The Vintage show has big shoes to fill following the fantastic event last year, but Secretary of Longford Vintage Club Miceal Nolan is confident that they can match the electric energy of the 2023 show. Miceal said excitement is abounding as the clock winds down to what promises to be the local body’s most eagerly awaited annual extravaganzas to date.
"Last year was huge, and after not having a show for two years during Covid it was great to see such a large crowd," said Miceal.
"We've loads of entertainment on offer and the weather's looking good, but I wont jinx it!" added Miceal, as he paid tribute to Longford County Council for the use of their Sean Connolly Barracks premises.
The club was founded in 2005 in Drumlish, and has since become a Longford community hub of activity, moving into Connolly Barracks in 2012.

"Without the help of the County Council, we wouldn't have a show, so lots of gratitude to them. Longford Community Resources have also greatly helped us with keeping the barracks tidy, and their maintenence has been a blessing".
Given the welcoming weather conditions that will be on offer, a host of refreshment stalls are also expected to be in situ to take the hunger off and quench the thirst of those in attendance, and vendors will join the crowds for anyone eager for a shopping spree.
Miceal also told of even more attractions on the day, which will also feature a dog show, live music, a special appearance from Farmer Phil and a craft tent. "The local Irish Countrywomen's Association will be hosting a craft fair, which is a phenomenal addition to the day," said Miceal.
“We are a wheelchair friendly, family friendly event and we are hoping people come from far and wide to take in the day.”
Prices on the day are €10 for adults, with children under 12 going free. Payments can be made by cash or card.
Anyone with enquiries is welcome to contact the club by phone at 087 1167630, or on the Longford Vintage Club Facebook page.
