Gardai are hunting for two car thieves who brazenly made off with a fastfood delivery car as its driver was in the process of making a delivery, writes Liam Cosgrove.
The 02 registered VW Polo was stolen from a Longford town housing estate, just off the main Athlone Road between 9:30pm and 9:45pm last Friday.
Its driver, who also owns the car, had only pulled up outside his intended destination seconds earlier when the two people suddenly jumped into the vehicle and sped off.
Gardai have since launched a public appeal for information.
They are especially anxious to speak to two men, described as being 5’10 to 6’ in height.
The pair were also said to be wearing dark jeans and bright coloured t-shirts.
Separately, gardai have launnched inquiries into two unconnected raids last Wednesday and Thursday morning respectively.
The first happened at a private house in the St Michael’s Road area of town between 4:30pm and 7pm.
Some cash, a driving licence and an Anna Smith handbag were taken.
Hours later, a business premises on the Athlone Road was also targeted.
Nothing was taken however in an incident gardai believe took place between 10pm and 7:30am the following morning.
