On Monday, February 2, the Longford Arms Hotel will host a ‘Wellness Workshop’, organised by Suicide or Survive (SOS) in partnership with the Longford Mental Health Association (MHA).
Taking place from 9.30am to 4.30pm, the Wellness Workshop will cover topics including relaxation and stress management and understanding the relationship between thoughts and emotions.
Speaking as preparations continued for the event, Ann Howard of Longford MHA told the Leader that health promotion and talking about mental health-related topics are part of their remit as an organisation.
The association got in touch with Suicide or Survive before Christmas, and Ann continued by saying that, “SOS are experts in their field and we feel that’s the way forward - to link in with the experts.”
Adding that the association are very lucky to be well supported by the public, Ann stated that this event is “giving back something that the people of Longford have already fundraised for”.
Encouraging people to commit to this invaluable day, Ann also pointed out that the MHA will be there to give a rundown on their own work, and to provide support.
The Wellness Workshop is an informal and relaxed event, which combines personal testimony with practical tools and tips. The event is absolutely free, and lunch is included. However, places are limited and booking is advised. To book, contact Jacqui or Lisa on 1890 577 577.
