Two of Longford’s three election candidates have agreed to partake in a live debate next Tuesday, February 22nd. Peter Kelly (FF) and Mae Sexton (Lab) have both confirmed that they will attend the event, which has been organised by Longford Women’s Manifesto Group.

The debate, which will take place less than 24 hours following another pre-election live debate at the Longford Arms Hotel, will actually be the first debate whereby members of the public will have the opportunity to question the Longford candidates. All three Longford candidates have shied away from partaking in Monday night’s debate, with Deputy Kelly citing prior commitments as his reason.

The Longford Women’s Manifesto Group debate will take place on Tuesday February 22nd next at 11am in Ardnacassa Avenue at the Longford Women’s Link (LWL) offices.

As of today (Thursday, February 17) seven of the constituency’s 15 candidates have confirmed that they will attend the debate. In addition to Deputy Kelly and Cllr Sexton, they are Mary O’Rourke (FF), Paul Hogan (SF), David Darcy (Ind), Donal Jackson (Ind) and Siobhan Kinahan (Green).
