COLLECTION: Dòchas Nasamu, the Irish run Orphanage in Ikumbi, Kenya, are holding a used clothing appeal for Ladies/Gents & Childrens clothes, footwear, household linens ie., towels, sheets, blankets etc., for the orphans and their extended families outside the wall of the Local Church, on Monday 13th December.

COLLECTION: Dòchas Nasamu, the Irish run Orphanage in Ikumbi, Kenya, are holding a used clothing appeal for Ladies/Gents & Childrens clothes, footwear, household linens ie., towels, sheets, blankets etc., for the orphans and their extended families outside the wall of the Local Church, on Monday 13th December.

Anyone who wishes to donate clothing to this worthy cause can leave bags outside the wall between 9am & 12pm.

PARISH DRAW

The parish draw for the pedigree heifer or 2000 euro will be held on this Saturday 11th Dec in Casey's Bar. There will be music and refreshments on the night. You are kindly asked to return your ticket stubs and money this week.

SOCIAL SERVICES

The annual Church gate collection for the County Longford Social Services will be held this weekend Sat 11th Dec and Sun 12th Dec. The social services deliver meals on wheels to the elderly living alone and provide transport services to and from hospitals, clinics and St Joseph's Day Care Centre. Volunteers are needed to help make this collection.

CHARITY RUN

All profits from this year's 5K run which will take place on St Stephens Day will go to county Longford Alzheimers Society. A big turnout is expected.

CLONGUISH GAA LOTTO DRAW

The winning numbers were 2, 10, 11, 17. 100 euro Susan Thompson; 50 euro Mary McGowan; 25 euro Maria Mulhern; 25 Emma Flynn. Next draw which will include the Christmas draw for 3 turkeys and 3 hams will be held in Castle Inn with a jackpot of 2600 euro.

PARISH CALENDAR

There are still plenty of the new style parish calendars left selling at 5 euro. It can be got after weekend Masses in the sacristy or at the parochial house.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

The parish finance committee will have a meeting in the parochial house on this Wednesday night at 9pm.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The next meeting of the parish pastoral council is on Monday Dec 13th at 8.30pm.

FEAST DAY

This Wed 8th Dec is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Vigil Mass at 7.30pm on Tuesday. School Mass and nativity play on the feast day at 11am. Evening Mass at 7.30pm on Wednesday also.

FIRESIDE TALES

The eighth issue of Fireside tales from around Longford Town and County edited by Jude Flynn is now available in Bells supermarket and post office and also in Smiths Gala supermarket. This book is a great read and a nice present for your friends at Christmas.
