This week is World Animal Week, a global event uniting pet owners all over the world and helping to promote higher standards of animal welfare.

The event is celebrated each year around the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

As part of World Animal Week the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has launched a range of special e-cards, with donations going to help unwanted, neglected and cruelly-treated animals.

The e-cards can be purchased and sent from the ISPCA’s online shop: www.ispcashop.ie.
