Cllr Tom Crosby
The disruptions to the power supply in the Roosky area over the weekend were the result of fallen trees.
ESB confirmed the issue in correspondence with Roscommon Independent councillor, Com Crosby.
The power utility company said the matter arose as a result of “rough” weather: “We have an issue in a forestry at Lavagh in the Roosky Area where falling trees have brought down three spans of MV conductor affecting 50 customers, otherwise the Roosky Area has not been impacted too badly.”
ESB has committed to “try to clear some of the trees which could impact on the line in the future”.
They went on to say: “On the remedial action front, a meeting has been scheduled with the owner of several forestry locations later today in Roosky, and I will be visiting all his forestry locations for the purpose of formulating an action plan to address issues impacting on the ESB Networks.”
Speaking of the matter, Cllr Crosby said he had further correspondence with Pat Nugent, the Area Manager Athlone & Longford, Customer Delivery.
Cllr Crosby said Mr Nugent has met with Siobhan Wynne, the Central Region Senior Manager with ESB networks and Sean Murphy, Senior Manager Corporate Affairs, to review the Draft Meeting Minutes.
Mr Nugent said: “Following this meeting, Sean Murphy has escalated the matter to Managing Director of ESB Networks – Nicholas Tarrant. Be reassured, that our local management team is fully committed to resolving and eliminating the causes of the power outages affecting customers in the Roosky Area.”
