55 year old woman dies after being struck by car in Legan, Co Longford

A female pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a car in Legan village at 1.30am earlier today. The 55 year old victim was pronounced dead at the scene and her body removed to The Midlands Regional Hospital at Mullingar. The driver of the car, a male in his early 40’s, was arrested at the scene. .

According to Gardai, the section of road is currently closed in Legan Village to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

The Gardai in Granard wish to appeal for witnesses to this collision to contact Granard Garda Station on 043 6687660, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
