Local volunteers will be collecting on streets and in shopping centres this weekend in Longford for children’s charity Barnardos. The charity’s second annual national bucket collection will run on Saturday October 20th with volunteers aiming to raise a total of €100,000 to help Barnardos continue its vital work with children and families throughout the country.
Nationally Barnardos works with 6,300 children and families out of 42 project centres providing family support services to young people whose lives are marred by issues such as poverty, neglect and educational disadvantage. Family support services include projects that provide targeted early years support, intensive family and individual support.
The Barnardos volunteers will be easily identifiable, wearing t-shirts or high visibility jackets with the Barnardos logo prominently displayed front and back. The collection buckets will be sealed and will also display the Barnardos logo. Those who would prefer to make a donation over the phone can contact Barnardos on 1850 222 300 or donate securely online at www.Barnardos.ie. Anyone in a position to volunteer to help with the collection days can email volunteer@barnardos.ie or call Sinead on 1850 222 300.
