County Longford Scuba Divers Search and Rescue have recently undertaken two searches of the canal leading to the Garadice Lake and the entry into the lake, which is located on the outskirts of Ballinamore, County Leitrim. This is the latest in a series of efforts to locate missing man, Patrick Heeran.
Mr Heeran (48), who lived in the Cois Easa housing estate in Aughavas, Co Leitrim, disappeared on the evening of October 3, 2011.
On Sunday March 4 last, twelve members of the Co Longford Scuba Divers Search and Rescue took part in a search of the canal leading to the Garadice Lake.
“We were assisted by members of the family and the locals,” said a spokesperson for the County Longford Scuba Divers Search and Rescue speaking to the Leader. “We undertook another search last Sunday (March 11). We spent all day there and we covered the entry into the lake.”
On March 11, the Longford scuba divers were assisted by members from Athlone and Roscommon scuba diving clubs. In total there were a group of approximately 20 scuba divers.
Describing the experience, the spokesperson for the County Longford Scuba Divers said: “You are helping out a family in distress. Unfortunately we had no leads and we found nothing on this occasion.”
