Variety retail chain Mr Price is to open a new store in Longford town, creating up to 15 new jobs in the process, writes Liam Cosgrove.
Senior representatives from the bargain store provider shook hands on a deal to acquire a premises at the Townspark Industrial Centre in recent days. The announcement brings to almost 50 the number of jobs newly established retailers have created in Longford since the end of August.A company spokesman said the company’s expansion to Longford would have come a lot sooner but for lengthy negotiations in securing the vacant unit from NAMA.“We always wanted to set up links in Longford and we had highlighted the town as an area for expansion for some time,” he said.It’s hoped the new store will be open by the end of November as company bosses set their sights on recruitment and fit-out requirements. Local auctioneer, Sean Dalton who helped broker the deal, said the announcement was a vote of confidence in Longford retail.
