Gardaí confirm man found dead on derelict site in Midlands
Gardaí have confirmed that the body of a man was found on a derelict site in Athlone, Co Westmeath on Thursday.
The grim discovery was made by another person on a site not far from St Mary's Square in the centre of the town at 2pm on Thursday.
Gardaí told us: "The body of a male, aged in his late 20s, was removed to the mortuary where a post mortem will take place in due course."
It's understood that no criminal investigation is necessary in relation to the discovery.

A south Offaly based farmer and haulier has been jailed for eight years after Tullamore Circuit Court heard €730,000 worth of cannabis was found in an articulated lorry he had been driving when he was stopped at Dunkerrin near his home in 2017.
