Busy local road in Longford closed for footpath works

Local diversions are in place

LONGFORD County Council is advising motorists of an ongoing road closure to facilitate constructions of a new footpath.

The local authority has announced that Local Road, L-1098 to R-393 from Ardagh Demesne to Ardagh Village will remain be closed until November 24 2023.

The closure, under the Roads Act 1993 (Section 75), came into effect on November 7 and is in place Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. 

The council says the closure is required to facilitate the provision of a new footpath and that local diversions are in place.

In the interest of road safety, all road users are requested to follow the diversions and heed all signs.
