Longford public invited to vote for local housing and tenancy support project

Martina Smith Hail CEO

Longford people are being invited to vote for a local and housing and tenancy support project which has been shortlisted for an award at the Irish Council for Social Housing Allianz Community Housing Awards.

The Cara Project is a service delivered by the Housing Association for Integrated Living (HAIL). The service supports people who have been residents in HSE accommodation, by providing them with their own home under a HAIL tenancy. Fifty-six new tenancies have been provided nationwide through the project, with a further six due to be provided this year. The Cara Project also provides support to people in local authority and social housing who have a mental health diagnosis and need help maintaining their tenancy. HAIL provides this support across Longford, to people who have been referred to them by the council or local HSE mental health team.

HAIL CEO Martina Smith, said: “We are delighted that the Cara Project has been shortlisted for an award at the upcoming Irish Council for Social Housing Allianz Community Housing Awards. She added that they are "pleased with the positive impact the Cara Project has had in Longford. "

Voting is open from Monday 2 October to Monday 16 October. To vote for this project visit the ICSH website https://icsh.ie/awards/community-housing-public-choice-award-2023/ .
