Arva Gardaí have questioned a man in connection with a fire that broke out at the Breffni Arms Hotel during the early hours of Monday morning.

The Breffni Arms was packed to capacity on the night as dancers from across the region gathered together to enjoy the music of Robert Mizzell.

Dance-goers had been inside the popular Arva venue to set the seal on what had been an otherwise hugely successful agricultural show day when the fire broke out shortly after 1am.

Local gardaí have been praised for the “smooth evacuation” from the hotel which ensured that nobody was injured in the blaze.

More details in tomorrow’s Leader.
