A Longford DJ has spoken of his joy at securing a slot at this weekend's Electric Picnic Festival.

Paul Brady, aka 'M Sykes Muzic' is among a stellar line up of live acts that will take to the stage in Stradbally, Co Laois over the course of the next three days.

"As of from last Monday I have been confirmed to play at Electric Picnic 2023 which is taking place this weekend," he said.

"I am super excited for this as it is my biggest achievement DJ wise.

"I am a respected dj having played all over the country and also locally I have played in various clubs and venues down through the years."

The Longford musician also revealed his plans to hold a fundraiser for Longford Counselling services October 28 next.

"As I have suffered from depression for a third time and thankfully I am coming out the right side, it is for this reason why I have decided to speak out and create awareness about mental health," he said.

"Also the goal is to promote the Longford Counselling service ran by Victor Connell and promote Longford in a positive light.

"I am a respected dj having played all over the country and also locally I have played in various clubs and venues down through the years. I feel I have a platform there to try and improve awareness locally about mental health and  I have the support of the local gardai, counsellors, local musician such as Paul Gurney, Tommy 'Tae Bag' Kelly, Gerry Conboy and Shane Kennedy."
