All of Longford's cycling and walking network will be finished by the end of next year, Environment Minister Eamon Ryan has said
The cycle and walking network around Longford town is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024 Environment Minister Eamon Ryan told the Dáil last week.
Last October Longford Town Core Cycle Network was included as a project under the Pathfinder Programme.
The Longford Town Core Cycle Network will establish a radial cycling and walking network, along three approach roads from Longford Town: Battery Road (R198), Ballinalee and Major Well’s Road (N63), and Farranyoogan (N63). The scheme will be administered by Longford County Council.
Meath East Sinn Fein TD Darren O'Rourke asked the Minister for a report on the progress of the pathfinder programmes, particularly with reference to increasing momentum to the delivery of projects at a local level.
In his reply Minister Ryan said: “The first portion of the Longford Town Core Cycle Network - the N63 Majors Well Road project – has been completed and the full pathfinder remains on track to be delivered by the end of 2024.”
The project will include cycle and walking infrastructure across all three routes, amounting to 7.5 kilometres in total.
