Cruthú Arts Festival kicks off

Lee Williamson's "Welcome to Longford" will also feature as one of the five films being screened in the upcoming "Night At The Pictures" as part of the Cruthú Arts Festival in Longford Town

The magic of creativity will be celebrated this week as the Cruthú Arts Festival continues Longford's festive offerings. Gene Rhatigan, Festival Chairperson, said the Arts Festival is an unforgettable journey through diverse art forms, film screenings, captivating performances, and inspiring stories.

The Festival celebrates its landmark tenth edition, showcasing artistic talent within the community and fostering engagement with diverse art forms.

Artists across all media contribute to a festival that offers a range of activity from visual art and cinema, theatre and music and artist's exhibitions and workshops.

It opens Wednesday night with the captivating screening "A Night at the Pictures". This evening will see five short films introduced by writers and directors at the Backstage Theatre, providing a platform for talented filmmakers to showcase their creative storytelling.

Music enthusiasts can look forward to a mesmerizing night of live performances at the historic St Mel’s Cathedral and St John's Church among others, adding a touch of grandeur to the festival.

The festival promises a blend of acts and exciting new additions, ensuring a memorable celebration of artistry, community engagement, and cultural enrichment.
