Two gardaí were forced to run for safety from a man brandishing a pair of knives during a domestic disturbance at the weekend.
The Longford man was later arrested and charged following the incident which took place at a house in White Linen Woods in Longford town on Sunday morning.
Two officers had initially responded to a call just after 4:30am, indicating that a domestic related incident was under way.
When they arrived, a man began shouting from an upstairs window before suddenly appearing, armed with knives.
It’s understood a number of threats were made to both officers as the man chased both officers from the scene.
A man appeared before a special sitting of Longford District Court on Monday charged in connection to the weekend incident.
He was later remanded in custody and is due to appear before a sitting of Harristown District court on Friday.
