N4 re-opens after Edgeworthstown crash

The wreckage from the scene of an accident close to the railway station in Edgeworthstown has been cleared.

The accident which involved a lorry and a van occurred at approximately noon today, after the lorry jack knifed and collided with a second vehicle.

The N4 was closed for a period of time with motorists being asked to avail of alternative routes, however, it has now re-opened to traffic in both directions. Two men have been taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar as a result of the incident, however their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
