Two great shows on offer at Longford's Backstage Theatre

Longford's Backstage Theatre

Backstage Theatre in Longford

It's a busy weekend for Backstage with two highly entertaining shows on offer.

Kyle Riley's Little Folk on the Road is a fun family concert perfectly suited for 2-8 year olds and their adults.

Kyle has been writing and performing children’s music for over 10 years, touring Ireland and abroad. ‘Little Folk’ features his award winning original children’s music, catchy kids tunes and some proper sing-a-long songs. It’s a foot stomping, hand clapping and jumping good time.

The fun doesn’t stop when the show ends, each child gets a little musical goody bag so they can join in during the show and take the music home with them. Bring your rock toddlers, your little boppers, and cool kids to Kyle’s one of a kind family concert.

The show is on Saturday, March 25 at 11am, tickets are €10 and are available at Backstage. If you know some little people who like music this is a must see show.

Tickets are like gold dust for The Matchmaker, the iconic comedy by John B Keane, which celebrates 21 years on the road this year. Norma Sheahan joins Jon Kenny to play a myriad of characters in this hilarious and earthy dramatic comedy about the efforts of Dicky Mick Dicky O’Connor as he attempts to make matches for the lonely and lovelorn of the parish.

With a deft sense of “devilment” and wit, Keane uses his inimitable way with words to delve into the longings, hungers, fears and foibles of this collection of lonely country people, creating a marvellously colourful world that takes us back to a simpler time when phones were few and far between and the only web was the one left behind by spiders.

Loved by audiences for her roles in The Clinic, Bridget and Eamon and Moone Boy, Norma Sheahan has recently completed an enormously successful national tour as the titular heroine of Willy Russell’s Shirley Valentine, becoming the only other actress apart from Vanessa Redgrave to have sold out the Gaiety Theatre for a one woman show, not once, but twice.

The Matchmaker is on Friday, March 24, at 8pm. It's a busy weekend for Backstage with two highly entertaining shows on offer. Kyle Riley's Little Folk on the Road is a fun family concert perfectly suited for 2-8 year olds and their adults.
