Gardai await DPP ruling on prostitution arrests

Three people arrested in connection to an investigation into organised prostitution have been released without charge.
A file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) after three people were released without charge as part of an investigation into organised prostitution.

A file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) after three people were released without charge as part of an investigation into organised prostitution.

All three were arrested by gardai during a planned operation in the Tarmonbarry area of Co Roscommon on Wednesday evening.

Two males (aged in their 20s) and a female (20s) were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Longford and Roscommon Garda Stations for questioning.

The Leader also understands a number of premises, including a commercial unit in the Longford town area was searched by gardai as part of the investigation.

All three have since been released without charge as gardai now await directions from the DPP to determine whether any charges can be brought.
