Keen anglers on Lough Ree Alan Broderick and Paul Burke represented the area at the last big show in France in 2017. The Lough Ree team are going again on Thursday next to fly the flag for Longford
The Lough Ree Angling Hub – based in Lanesboro is to fly the flag for Longford and Ireland in front of 25,000 anglers at one of Europe’s largest fishing trade shows in France next weekend.
The move comes after the hub, which promotes angling on Lough Ree and all nearby waters, was invited to attend this prestigious show – as a former organiser of the World Predator and Pike Boat Championships which took place here in 2016.
The hub was delighted to accept the invitation at short notice after consultation with Fáilte Ireland, Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands staff and Longford Tourism and will have a team on the ground in the French city of Clermont-Ferrand from Friday January 20 to Sunday January 22 at the show.
“We are delighted to fly the flag for Longford and Ireland at this major show,” said Philip Gordon secretary of the Lough Ree Angling Hub. He added, “We have done this before successfully and our team will distribute thousands of leaflets to some of the most successful anglers in Europe who visit our waters. We will also be promoting our major international fishing festival in September 2023. This area has some of the best predator angling in the world and we need to get the crowds back again after the Covid-19 pandemic, so attending a show of this importance is very significant.”
After two editions cancelled due to the pandemic, the Carrefour National Pêche et Loisirs trade show will return better than ever this year. On the programme, more than 150 exhibitors and 300 brands, an overhaul of the animation, a new plan and above all, the inauguration of the largest store of items of ephemeral fishing from France.
The organiser – Center France Évènements intends to attract 25,000 visitors, from January 20 to 22, 2023 at the Grande Halle d'Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand, and to perpetuate the legacy of the largest gathering of fishermen in France and Europe this year.
For its 33rd edition, the Center France Events teams have worked tirelessly to offer exhibitors and visitors a major overhaul of the organisation of the show.
This new joint sales space of more than 800 m² will be for many enthusiasts the opportunity to treat themselves the latest novelties from their favorite brands and to discover many more!
The entertainment area is also getting a facelift: bigger, more furnished, it will be the nerve center of this edition. Equipped with a stage on a car podium, it will allow conferences, round tables and interviews to take place on a major subject: the preservation of natural environments, especially aquatic ones.
Finally, the successful animator Cyril Chauquet is back and will be the official sponsor of this new edition, the occasion to discover his new show which will soon be broadcast in France. At his side will be youtubers, fishing stars, professionals and all the major fishing players in France.
The Carrefour National Pêche et Loisirs offers a wide and complete offer ranging from fishing equipment to environmental protection, through boats or tourism.
But visitors can also to meet the associative and federal world with the presence of the National Federation of Fishing in France, as well as about thirty departmental federations.
