The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien, made orders on April 5, 2024 appointing Friday, June 7, 2024 as the polling day and the hours of 7am to 10pm to be the hours of polling for the European Parliament, Local and Limerick Mayoral elections.
These Local Elections will establish a new Council that will sit for a five-year term.
Longford County Council has 18 elected members, also known as county councillors. These elected members are divided into the three Local Electoral Areas (LEA's):

Vision Impaired Voters
Longford County Council have set up a freephone number to assist vision impaired voters in the upcoming local elections.
Callers will be able to select their Local Electoral Area (Ballymahon, Granard, or Longford), after which a recorded message will list each candidate nominated in the selected Local Electoral Area, their political affiliation and their occupation.
The freephone number is 1800 832 016. This number can be called any number of times to help voters to familiarise themselves with the candidates running in the local elections.
