The pygmy goat taken from the water in the Lanesboro Ballyleague marina and is now in the safe care of Longford undertaker Davy Connell
As you may already know our shop (O'Brien's Lanesboro) at the corner is the drop off point for almost anything lost, no matter where in the community and a regular pick up point too.
On Thursday last we had the most unusual lost article notified to us when Roberto (Bob) Riozzi called into the shop to tell us that some people on boats had taken a goat from the water in the marina on Wednesday evening and to keep it safe they put it in the enclosed area of the tennis court.
The goat was without identification and had no ear tags. It was no ordinary size goat but it was a very small goat referred to as a pygmy goat.

We posted the message of the found goat on Facebook. Alan Horohoe who has a number of goats in Ballyleague was the first call but he did not have pygmy goats, so it was not his.
Alan said that he would take care of the goat until the owner came forward. In the meantime we got a call from Shannonside, who saw the Facebook notice and rang for information.
This was followed by two calls, one from Longford and Newtowncashel from people that have pygmy goats and they would take the goat until the owner came forward.
Alan Horohoe was also in touch with Longford undertaker Davy Connell who has pygmy goats and Davy is now taking care of the animal.
If this was your goat you can get in touch and we will reunite you but if no owner comes forward we are assured the pygmy goat is in excellent care.
