PICTURES | Longford remembers late Private Seán Rooney at poignant ceremony

The Peter Keenan O.N.E. Branch, Longford held a ceremony on Thursday, December 22 at the Memorial Garden, Great Water Street to remember the late Private Seán Rooney who was killed while on peacekeeping duty in Lebanon. Branch members marched from Connolly Barracks to the Memorial Garden for a poignant ceremony that was also attended by local Gardaí and political representatives.

The soldier’s poem was read and a minute’s silence was also held in memory of the late Pte Rooney. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. Local photographer Michael Croghan attended the commemoration ceremony and he captured the accompanying images.
