Longford gardaí arrested a driver under the influence of cocaine and they also detected a different driver who hadn't taxed their car for two years.
As part of their #keepingpeoplesafe on St Patrick’s Day campaign, Longford Roads Policing Unit stopped a motorist while driving unaccompanied and the driver subsequently tested positive for cocaine and was arrested.
Court proceedings will follow with gardaí advising motorists to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Friday, Longford Roads Policing Unit stopped a driver and found that they had not possessed any NCT or Tax on their vehicle for the past two years.
The vehicle was seized and court proceedings are to follow.
