A Longford department store has been forced to close this evening after a violent row between a number of women broke out in front of horrified shoppers.

It's understood two women attacked another female inside Penneys at Longford Shopping Centre shortly after 3pm.

One of the women is understood to have been injured and a knife was also believed to have been recovered at the scene.

Longford man avoids jail term for having stolen power tools at Sunday market

A Longford man who had stolen power tools valued at approximately €3,000 at a Sunday market has been given a suspended sentence.

 

The incident prompted management to close the shop with its shutters being pulled down shortly afterwards.
