A Ballymahon man has been convicted for stealing €20 worth of items from a Longford shop
A man has been fined €200 for taking a number of items from a Longford town shop in February of this year.
It was alleged that Eddie Mills, 10 The Granary, Ballymahon, entered a Longford store on February 9, 2022 at 1pm, took a black jacket off the hanger and put it on.
“He then took a sandwich and four packs of corn snacks and proceeded to walk out,” said Sgt Mark Mahon.
Solicitor for the defence, Bríd Mimnagh, explained that “it was actually chocolate flakes” that her client had taken.
In total, the goods came to the value of €20 and all were recovered.
Mr Mills has seven previous convictions including section 15 misuse of drugs and section 3 misuse of drugs offences.
He was convicted and fined €200 with six months to pay.
