Longford's Hazel and Hilary Robinson are both embarking on the long journey to Poland - by boat and by road - to deliver supplies this week for the people of Ukraine impacted by the Russian invasion
Longford mother and daughter Hilary and Hazel Robinson have successfully made it to the Ukraine border with Poland to deliver humanitarian aid to those who fled the fighting in their home country.
The local ladies loaded up the Hungry Horse Outside lorry with donations from Longford people, including medical supplies, baby products, pet products and other items to aid women and children who crossed the border over the past fortnight.
Setting off last Thursday evening, Hazel and Hilary made a 2,695km journey to Hrebenne on the Polish border with Ukraine, where they arrived on Monday.
Posting on the Hungry Horse Outside Facebook page, Hazel said people were very grateful for the aid that had been delivered to Hrebenne.
“We arrived at the Ukraine border earlier this morning and unloaded all the wonderful donations,” said Hazel on Monday.
“The Ukrainian people helped us unload. They were extremely welcoming and thankful. I said the whole of Ireland sends their love.”
