Former Longford Leader editor Eugene McGee

Tributes are being paid this morning following the death of former Longford Leader editor Eugene McGee.

The father of two, who famously steered Offaly to All Ireland football success over Kerry in 1982, passed away during the early hours of this morning.

A former journalist with the Sunday Tribune and Irish Independent, Mr McGee was also the  editor and managing director of the Longford Leader.

He was in his 70s and is survived by his wife Marian, daughter Linda, son Conor and a wide circle of friends and extended family.
