Edgeworthstown's St Mary's Community Centre has won the tender to host the 2019 local elections
Next month's local elections will be decided at St Mary's Community Centre in Edgeworthstown, the Leader can reveal.
The state of the art facility which opened its doors in 2015 has secured the tender for the upcoming count on May 25 following the culmination of a recent procurement process.
It means the count will switch from its previous venue in Newtownforbes of five years earlier.
Local councillor Paul Ross expressed his delight over the announcement.
"This is the first time ever that Edgeworthstown will host the count and great credit must go to the committee in being successful in attracting the event to the town.
"This is a great endorsement of this state of the art facility and will bring a great buzz to the town for the weekend not to mention drama and excitement for all the candidates," he said.
Voting on the 2018 local and European elections gets underway 24 hours earlier on May 24.
