A Longford man is to plead not guilty to the possession of CS gas, a recent District Court sitting heard
A man who was allegedly found in the possession of CS gas has indicated he will be pleading not guilty.
John West, 40 Casey Court, Kenagh, Co Longford denied the charges which had been levelled against him following an incident at Athlone Road, Longford on September 3, 2017.
Mr West, who was not represented by a solicitor, said his legal representative was unable to attend court on the day.
The court was informed Mr West had allegedly told gardaí the gas had been intended for his dogs.
A subsequent analysis of the items found confirmed what gardaí had initially suspected them to be, Judge Hughes was told.
The case was put back to yesterday’s (April 2) District Court sitting to allow for Mr West’s solicitor to attend.
Before moving on, Judge Hughes asked Mr West what type of dog he owned.
“A Chihuahua,” Mr West replied.
“Two of them actually.”
