One thing Donna Curwin is passionate about in life is her children. So, when she lost one of her precious children to a stillbirth, Donna was inspired to set up a fundraising campaign for Féileacáin (Stillborn and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland).
“I never thought it would happen to me,” said Donna.

“The excitement of labour, planning on meeting your gorgeous princess... little did I know I'd be holding her silently, trying to wrap her up to keep her warm, knowing if I'd gone into labour 24 hours earlier she just might have made it.
“My placenta abrupted from the back and clotted, she died less then 24 hours before I gave birth to her, full term.”
Féileacáin is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to offer support to anyone affected by the death of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after by providing memory boxes or cuddle cots to help comfort parents who are suffering a tragic loss.
“I want to help other parents and families by keeping charities like Féileacáin going so they can continue to give families the opportunity for counselling; that memory boxes will be continued to be made as that little box holds your whole child's life,” said Donna.
“Memory boxes are so precious. It holds your baby's smell forever, their strand of hair, their handprint and footprint, etc.
“If we raise enough we can help give hospitals cuddle cots to let parents spend longer with their baby. There is so much this charity has to offer,” she stressed.
Donna's first fundraising event in aid of this worthy charity will be a Ladies Pyjama Night at the Mill Bar, Drumlish, this coming Saturday, February 23 at 8pm.
Tickets for this girly event are only €10 and include prosecco on arrival, a finger buffet, a DJ and karaoke.
There will also be a raffle on the night with some great prizes.
Donna is also planning a sports night with former English footballer Andy Ritchie. Details will be revealed via her GoFundMe page.
If you can't make it to any of the fundraising events, you can still donate by finding 'Fundraising in Memory of Baby Bethany Curwin' on GoFundMe.com.
