Work begins on Longford's iconic PVs building

Plans to have landmark Longford bar open by end of the year

Work begins on Longford's iconic PVs building

PVs bar on Ballymahon Street is undergoing a facelift.

Refurbishment work is well and truly underway at the landmark PVs Bar and restaurant site on Ballymahon Street, writes Jessica Thompson.

Scaffolding has been assembled at the front of the iconic building and work has begun on the face of the building.

Speaking to the Longford Leader on Tuesday morning, new owner Philip King said that there are no official plans just yet, but that the bar will be reopened this year.

“We're doing up the face at the moment. By the end of the year we hope to be up and running in some form or other,” he said.

“We want to get the outside of the building done first and then play it by ear after that.”

But, he added, more concrete plans will be revealed at a later stage.
