Temporary road closures are set to cause disruption on two busy Longford arteries, the N55 and N63, over the next ten days.

Road resurfacing works began on the N55 between Carrickedmond Church and Ballyglassin on Monday last, November 12. The road remained open on Monday and Tuesday, with traffic management in place.

However, the road will be closed from Wednesday, November 14 to Friday, November 23 from 8am to 6pm each day, (excluding the weekend).

Traffic will be diverted via the N4 Edgeworthstown to Longford, and the N63 and R392 from Longford to Ballymahon via Kenagh.

The N63 between Ballymacormack and Lanesboro will be closed 24hrs, from Wednesday, November 14 to Friday, November 23, to facilitate the road overlay and reconstruction works.

Traffic will be diverted at Ballymacormack Crossroads to Terlicken (R397) and then onto Lanesboro via the R392.

Longford County Council has advised that local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the closures at both locations and they are urging motorist to be vigilant.
