The victim of last night’s stabbing incident at New Street, Longford town is in hospital fighting for his life.
Gardaí are investigating the assault which occurred at New Street yesterday evening, Friday, March 17 shortly after 8.30pm.
A man, mid 30s, suffered apparent stab wounds when he was assaulted by a number of youths.
He was taken to Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar in a critical condition.
A man, 18 years, and two male juveniles were arrested in connection with this investigation a short time later.
They are all currently detained at Longford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination. Investigations are on-going.
