A Longford man has been sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison after being charged with the unlawful possession of an explosive substance during the visit of Queen Elizabeth to Ireland.
66-year-old Donal Billings, St Bridget’s Court, Drumlish, Co Longford appeared before the Special Criminal Court in relation to the charge at Longford Railway Station car park on May 16, 2011.
Mr Billings was further found guilty of four offences under the Criminal Law Act of 1976 of knowingly making false reports, tending to show that an offence had been committed.
