Throwing down 'The Gauntlet' in Longford for a very worthy cause

It was a full on Sunday recently as upwards of 300 people took part in 'The Gauntlet’ Team Fitness Challenge at the new Murphy’s Fitness Factory at Townspark estate in Longford town.

Fitness Factory is a new state of the art strength and conditioning facility operated by Newtownforbes man, Noel Murphy, and they certainly had the sweat pumping and the muscles flexing this day!

It was all for a very good cause as all the proceeds when to the Baby Loughlin Og Burns fund.

This little battler from Mohill was born with an extremely rare condition where many of his abdominal organs were on the outside of his body. He has never been to his family home.

Instead, home is the Ronald McDonald house near Our Lady’s Children's Hospital in Crumlin.

Gym owner Noel Murphy was delighted with the turnout for the event and was especially pleased that they are now able to give over €1,200 to the fund.

The main men’s event was won by Luke McGuinness  and his nephew, Michael McGuinness,  from Newtownforbes whilst the winners of the main female event were Sarah Adams and Fiona Toher.

The winners in the beginners section were Ashling and Vincent Meldrew.
