The annual Colmcille Vintage Club Tractor Run takes place this Sunday, July 3 and as in previous years the group will be fundraising for this year's chosen charity, the Longford Branch of the Alzheimer's Society.
Registration for the run will commence at 10.30am, with participants setting off from the Cross, Aughnacliffe at 12 noon.
The run will follow a route through Esker Cross, Drumlish and Longford town, before returning back through Ballinalee and finishing back at the Cross, taking in the beautiful scenery over Molly Hill.
Refreshments will be served both before and after the run at Murtagh's.
A great way of meeting other tractor enthusiasts, the run is also a fun day out for all while benefiting a local cause.
On the day, there will be a bucket collection, while sponsorship cards are also available locally in shops and from Vintage Club members.
“The club started back in 2008 with 22 members and 51 tractors on the run and last year we had 80 tractors with 32 members in the club,” explained Chairman Mícheál Shaughnessy. “We are hoping to equal that and more this year.”
The club are well known throughout the county and even further afield, having had tremendous success in particular at the Arva St Patrick's Day celebrations, taking home awards on four occasions.
Thanking the club and officers for their diligant work, Mícheál extended further gratitude to those who help out with their fundraising and also those who have donated.
“Thanks to all the vintage clubs who supported us for the last number of years and we're looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday, July 3!” he concluded.
