If you're looking for entertainment this weekend, look no further than Edgeworthstown, which will host the second Midlands Busking Festival this Saturday, June 25.
Busking contestants of all disciplines and genres will thrill and entertain the community, all while battling it out for a chance to win a share in €1,500 prize money.
All acts will present themselves from 2pm - 3pm on Saturday at the Busking Festival Office, where they will pay their entry fees and receive their assigned site.
There are two age categories in the Busking Competition – Junior (under 15 years) and Senior (15 years and over).
The Junior Competition will commence at 3.30pm sharp and the top five acts will be required to compete in the Final on the Gig Rig at 4.30pm.
Each act will be allocated a 5-minute timeslot (maximum) to perform in the final.
The Senior Competition will commence at 5.30pm sharp and as with the Junior Competition, the top five acts will be required to compete on the Gig Rig at 6.30pm for a maximum of five minutes each.
The winners in the Senior competition, whose prizes are sponsored by AIB Bank, will receive €500 prize money, while second and third place buskers will receive €300 and €200 respectively.
Meanwhile, the first prize winner in the Junior Competition will receive €250, followed by €150 and €100 for second and third place respectively.
The winners of the competition will be announced between 7pm and 7.30pm on the day, and the fun will continue well into the night with most pubs in the area providing musical entertainment.
