Scenes from the altercation in Longford Post Office
Two women have been charged in connection with a physical altercation at Longford Post Office on Wednesday, footage of which is now circulating widely online and shows what appears to be a scissors, being produced from a handbag.
Described by Gardaí as a “serious public order incident,” the violent scenes unfolded in front of onlookers at around 1pm.

Footage of the altercation in question shows the two women fighting aggressively at the counter as customers and staff go about their business.
The video of the fight is currently being shared on WhatsApp and social media. On one X account alone, the video was viewed 240,000 times as of midnight last night.

Longford Gardaí were called to the scene in the Main Street premises at 1.10pm where the two women - one of whom is in her 20’s, the other in her 30’s - were arrested and conveyed to the nearby Garda Station.
The pair have now been charged and are scheduled to appear before a sitting of Longford District Court in the coming weeks.
Gardaí say investigations are still ongoing.
