Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious single-vehicle road traffic collision on the R392 at Derrylough, Longford this evening, Wednesday 8th April, in which two men were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
At approximately 6.45pm this evening, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident involving a car.
One of two occupants of the car, a man in his 30s, was airlifted to the Mater Hospital where is being treated for serious injuries.
The second occupant, also a man in his 30s, was airlifted the Midlands Hospital in Tullamore with serious injuries.
The road currently remains closed pending a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 6.30pm and 7pm are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
