Great excitement at the Corrib Oil service station on the Ballymahon Road in Athlone

Gillian Morris, Head of Retail at Corrib Oil, said of the good news, “What a Wednesday it turned out to be for one of our customers in Athlone. It must be quite the feeling waking up and realising that you have a Lotto ticket worth €1 million!"

"Our service station on the Ballymahon Road is a busy location so we have been telling all of our customers to check their tickets very carefully. Here’s hoping the winner has since checked their ticket and realises just how much they have won."

Gillian added, "As this is the biggest win that the store has ever had, our store manager Áine and the entire team were all thrilled to hear the news. We all wish the winner the very best with their win!”

The National Lottery has continued to appeal to midlands players to check their tickets very carefully. The winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket and make contact with the Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to collect their prize from lottery headquarters.

National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr shared the following advice for the winner, “There could be a player out there who has no idea just how much their ticket is worth."

"The ticket could be in a wallet or tucked away at home since the draw, so we are advising any of our players who popped into Corrib Oil to purchase their Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw to carefully check their tickets."
