Longford family wins the BIG top prize on National Lottery scratch card

Celebrations are in order for a Longford syndicate who won €200,000

A Longford family syndicate has won the €200,000 top prize on an All Cash Spectacular Scratch Card, the National Lottery has confirmed.

The syndicate of five - who wish to remain anonymous - purchased the winning ticket at Tesco in the Longford Shopping Centre.

One of the winners explained the ticket purchase is actually a family tradition.

“This was actually a Christmas gift, it's something we do every year. We’ll buy each other a scratch card, pool them together and scratch them. It’s a bit of fun between us!”

The syndicate lead was the one who realised they had won the top prize win.

They said, “I was convinced it was €20,000 at first. I took a picture and sent it into our group chat. The messages came flying back, ‘Is this real?’ The phone started hopping!”

Another member of the syndicate added, “I ended up driving to a shop that was over 20km away to check the scratch card! We were very eager to get it validated as soon as possible before the excitement went any further!”

The ecstatic syndicate members are now lining up a party to celebrate their win.

As for how they intend to enjoy their lucrative shares, the National Lottery said one member is “planning a holiday” while another is “finally getting around to tarring the front of their house!”
