Breaking: Elderly pedestrian in serious condition following Longford collision

A pedestrian has been transferred to the Midlands Regional Hospital after suffering serious injuries following a road traffic collision in Ballymahon this evening. 

Longford Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of the collision on Main Street just after 5.15pm. 

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 80's, was treated at the scene before being transported to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore for treatment of injuries which have since been described as serious by a Garda spokesperson.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his late teens, was uninjured.
