Longford Garda checkpoint stops drivers suspected of drug driving

Longford Gardaí's ongoing clamp down on drug driving was recently highlighted on their Facebook page.

The local law enforcement have been active online to inform the public about their efforts to snare offenders.

The social media post said: "On the 15/08/2024, while Gardai were conducting a MIT checkpoint, they stopped the below vehicles. Both drivers were subjected to a roadside oral fluid test and both failed when cocaine was detected.

"They were both arrested and taken to Longford Garda Station where blood samples were taken from them. One of the drivers was also driving on a learner permit so their vehicle was impounded and a court case will follow."
