Ms Dolan made a name for herself directing commercials and music videos, before being selected for Berlinale Talents in 2014. As part of this programme she wrote and directed the short film Little Doll.
Her debut feature film 'You Are Not My Mother' premiered at TIFF Midnight Madness in September 2021.
Kate's mother, Catherine Dolan, explained the Longford connection: “Her grandfather was a proud Longford man, James Dolan, late of Kilmacannon, Longford. The ancestral home is now owned by Kate's uncle Michael Keegan-Dolan who is an internationally renowned choreographer and is currently working on a new show.”
Catherine says the Newtownforbes townland infuses director: “Kate's namesake was great grandmother Kate Dolan (nee Donegan). The creative juices are flowing from the townland of Kilmacannon.”
