Longford man settling into his new role as principal of Wicklow school

Inter-county referee Patrick Maguire also served as secretary of his club St Mary's Granard for a number of years

Well known Granard native Patrick Maguire is settling into his role as Principal of Scoil Chonglais in Baltinglass, Wicklow.

Patrick was appointed as principal on January 8, 2024.

Previously, Patrick was Deputy Principal of Athy Community College from September 2021 until his appointment as principal. His teaching career started out in St David's Holy Faith Secondary School, Greystones in 2011 where he was a teacher of history and geography.

Patrick is originally from Granard but now lives in Carlow with his wife Jennifer, son Fionn and a new arrival on the way in July.

Patrick is a very active referee who is currently on the national inter-county panel.

He was very involved in the local community in Granard serving as secretary of his club St Mary's Granard for a number of years and also as was Chairperson of Granard Credit Union.
